You heard it here: there are lots of children in Africa, this is my modest observation. Of the few hundred million of them, here are 30 or so. Most of the knowledge Westerners have of Africa is based on the media, the most reliable source of information (sarcasm duly implied). Yes, there is extreme poverty, chronic hunger, vast health deficienices, and political instability, BUT there is also a grand happiness, openness, and sincerity behind these convenient veils. I was hesitant in even taking "sad" pictures because I did not want to reinforce half-empty ideals. Unfortunately - or fortunately- , I didn't pull out my big Canon to capture me getting swarmed by tens of smiling and laughing children, but that's 'really how it is over there'.
