In the summer of '68, I was 12. I had a Reformer paper route along southern Norfolk Street. I only did it for one month because I realized that high school study and sports would take all of my time, come September. At outlets the paper cost 5 cents. When I collected at the end of the month the customer would be charged $1.25. I got a few tips of 25 cents - no small amount. A ten-ounce glass bottle of coke and a bag of chips totalled 20 cents, leaving me with a nickel with which I sometimes bought two cigarettes at Bill's poolroom on Robinson Street. The feeling of earning your own money? ..... Priceless.
