I remember driving across there when we did a trip to Dinosaur Monument and Mesa Verde with the boys years ago. Eerie contrast between the dark pavment and the snow-white surroundings.

All that flat not much of anything is why people often do this drive at night...or nap, as in your case.

WOW, very interesting. I'm surprised it's so white. You'd think dust would mix with it and make it browner.
