Retractable, pivoting bowsprit. When in use, the long pole is extended forward through the sleeve, which pivots near the bow, the rear slides side to side on the curved track. They can control the angle from inside the cockpit. Much of the time they will use a large asymmetrical spinnaker-like sail, one of whose corners is connected high on the mast and another on the forward end of the extended pole, with the third sheeted toward the stern.
