Riding NW on Highway 74 from Heppner, the road gently curves through rolling hills. We ride through the little towns of Lexington, Jordan, Ione, Morgan, Cecil, Ewing, and Rhea. The closer we get to Heppner Junction, the more windy it gets. By the time we reach the Columbia River, steering the bike seems akin to sailboating, tacking into the wind. The wind produces quite a bit of chop on the river, as you can see from this photo.
