I would describe Grand Canyon West in two words: money grab. $20 to park your car, $35 per person to take a bus to two lookout points. An additional $30 per head to walk on the skywalk, but no cameras allowed. Why? "To preserve the Grand Canyon," so they say, but one thing I know they're ready to sell you a $60-$175 picture of yourself and your family. Moving on, tips overtly asked for by your bus drivers, and performing Indians, overpriced souvenirs and food. Want to talk helicopter or flight tours? Fuggetaboutit. Even I was offended. And don't count on having the place to yourself. They are expanding the air strip to handle 747s. Order was restored the following day at the South Rim, dignified, low key, respectful to the environment, and best of all, a REAL view of the Canyon.
