This Mississippi Kite hadn't eaten for a day or two. Its parents were nowhere around - very unusual
for kites. I had trouble getting any "official" organization to answer the phone or do anything to
help him, so I called a local falconer. Actually, the first one I called referred me to a second one
who came to our house with a partner and caught him. They will transport him to the
South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The guys that picked him up said he hadn't eaten for a while and was dehydrated, and he would take care of that first thing.

These are beautiful, graceful predators. It would be a shame for something to have happened to him.
