This photo was taken during the totality of the lunar eclipse on Febrary 20, 2008.
The skies were cloudy, allowing occasional brief glimpes as the eclipse progressed. Then, a few minutes before the end of the total phase, the skies cleared and I was able to take photos. This image is a combination of 21 frames taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XT at the prime focus of a 1000mm f/4.9 reflector. The frames were registered and stacked in Iris and further processed in Photoshop.
