The Wizard Nebula

Photographed at 432mm with a ZWO ASI071MC Pro camera and a William Optics Fluorostar 91 telescope, this is the Wizard Nebula and it's associated star cluster. The cluster was discovered in 1787 by Caroline Herschel, and is designated NGC 7380 in the New General Catalog. She could not have seen the faint nebula surrounding the cluster, which is included in the Sharpless Catalog today as S 142.

This image was produced from 254 exposures totaling 10 hours and 52 minutes, taken on three nights in October, 2022.
