This is a wider view of globular cluster M3 than the previous photo of M3 in this gallery, showing the orange giant star HD119081 near the top of the image. At visual magnitude 6.2, which is the same magnitude as the M3 cluster itself, HD119081 and M3 may be barely visible to the naked eye under very dark skies. M3 is about 34,000 light years from Earth, and contains about 500,000 stars.

You can also see the galaxy cataloged as NGC 5263 in this photo, about 2/3 of the way between the M3 cluster and the top left corner of the image. NGC 5263 is about 200 million light years from Earth.
