Having left the software world almost a year ago and getting dialed into the Telecom industry I have learned a lot. More than I ever thought one could know about phones. Specifically, Voice over IP offerings.

Sure, it's a commodity, it's a given that you pick it up, get a dial tone and it works. But holy hell, when it doesn't work all the world will hear, well- know about it. The industry I'm in now is competitive and changing. It's been changing for years but the evolution of communication as we know it is going to look way different in the coming years. It's just a telephone but with the likes of Google, Amazon, Microsoft and probably Face Book and Apple coupled with faster data speeds and better networks- it's going to be insane. Me? I'm just happy I have a new bluetooth headset that works with my laptop so I can ditch my desk phone.
