I met Ryan today at a wedding I was shooting. He was one of the couples friends and also a musician who was playing the event. Photographically he just was a perfect subject and he obliged my request to take this photo. I think it did him justice!

Breaking down the barrier of standing behind the camera and the folks you're taking pictures of is a huge ocean of doubt, trust and being able to let someone see you as "you". What might be a mere 5 feet can be a wide gap to bridge. People tense, fake smile, stiffen up or just up and leave the area when there's pictures being taken. Getting it right in camera is important but being able to take away a personal interaction, mutually from photographer/subject is more important.
