I got home from work late to find my oldest daughter sitting at the kitchen table assisting her little sister with her 8th grade, new fangled math homework that is beyond understanding of my wife and I.

Solving for 2 R over 5 minus 3 = 7 R + 2? equals WTF in my book, let alone having to "show" the work. Shoot me!

The greatest thing about this scene is that oldest daughter had plans for the evening and lives a couple cities away but gave up her time to come help teach Sarah and my Wife (I am useless at math and can solve for balancing my check book, and that 5 beers minus 6 beers equals time to go to the store).

In all seriousness as I was mowing the back lawn I would see them working, pass after pass with my mower seeing them in the kitchen lights, problem after problem of Kayla helping her to understand this "math" homework. I was touched by the fact that my oldest was doing what neither me or my wife can do for Sarah. This image of my two girls will stay with me for a long time- it's life captured in this window pane that makes me proud to be a Dad and glad my Wife and I raised such decent kids...

It's a good shot; a shared moment that can be imitated but never replicated.
The smartest advice that I ever got about maths is that it's a subject that should be approached as a seduction, not a conquest. The harder you try, the worse it gets.
