Sometime before dawn, I opened up my digital copy of Joe McNally's Hot Shoe Diaries. If you don't own it, get it... It's a incredible pictorial of images all made with Nikon speed lights. It's "the" reason I take pictures. Make, shaping, controlling, directing and using light to create is my passion. I sat in the dark family room bathed in a glow from my iPad reading this classic how to book of all things light. Well worth the insomnia to have more insight to this dark art of watts and power ratio's
Joe is a gifted writer, as well as he is with cameras. Seeing light, be it the absence of it or the need to capture whats already there is his gift. I'll never be in his realm but it's fun to try. A couple flashes, a willing model and a empty walking trail got me todays PaD.
