Graduation

Our friends son, Clayton graduated High School and today was his "Grad" party. As we walked up to their home, there was each of his first day of school pics lining the drive for guest to see coming into the home. It was pretty cool to see this progression of the past 12 years photographically.

I recently read that people get more angry and frustrated as they age up to their mid/late 40's. By the time they turn 47 they start to get progressively happier as the years tick by. Maybe by the time were 47 we forget all the petty BS that school was and let it go or maybe with age wisdom does come. Regardless of this PaD ramblings I wish nothing but the best for Clay in his future, whatever it holds. YOLO is a cheesy saying for You Only Live Once, but it is true. So all I can say is YOLO-SMIC "You only live once, so make it count!"

47 was the age that Al Shepard was when he commanded Apollo XIV, the oldest Apollo era astronaut to do so by a big margin. (Even John Young was younger at the time of his flight, though he was still on flight status when he turned 120 and in fact probably still is but NASA just won't admit it.) Once you hit 48 it's therefore time to sigh deeply, put your face into your hands, and accept the fact that you are probably not going to command a lunar landing, so stuff it, you may as well relax and enjoy the ride.
Unless you're like me and have a background of watching, analysing and figuring stuff out, in which case getting angry and frustrated is an inescapable byproduct of waking up each morning and going through the news feeds anywhere outside of Rome circa 10 BC.

Of course, this is nothing compared to the sheer mortification that most teenagers feel when parents drag out the baby photos, though I'll grant you that from the ones I can see it appears that they used a decent amount of tact in the selection for this display.
