Somedays a PaD is served up to order unknowingly. Perfect light, perfect lens already on camera, memory card inserted and camera where you need it, when you need it for the one push of the button with the settings magically already dialed in. Click.
Todays was not like that at all...
This shot was more like flight of the bumble bee. Perfect light that lasted for 3 minutes. In that amount of time, it was a step outside and shoot. Wrong lens. Shit- in the house, change lenses. Back outside and shoot. Damn it, what is wrong with these. Oh yeah, my last photos were bracketed and numb nuts (me) forgot to change back the settings. Regroup, focus and shoot again. The little voice inside my head was saying, over and over again "lights fading" "check your ISO" "lights fading" "are you shooting this in raw" "lights fading"
Shooting a rainbow is troublesome for me, just as shooting lightning baffles me. It's more pray and spray than any technique. If only there was a pause button on this scene to give me more time to put something magical together. Regardless of the photo. I have learned to always lift my head up out of the view finder if even for a second to see this beauty with my own eyes unobstructed by metal, plastic and mirrors. It was a hell of a sunrise...
