The Hawthorne's

Played a great golf course today for a really worthy event- Wounded Warrior and proud to say my company donated and participated in this along with Microsoft.

What I came away with was a huge smile, not because of the feel good money donation aspect but because I saw people who know NOTHING of the military in general get a in the face dose of reality. I served and it's a cultural thing. Bypassed the whole go to college thing and went off and spent 13 years in uniform. No more, no less than anyone else now or who has gone before me and I came home intact, sane and all the better for my time served. Others gave the ultimate sacrifice and others still are living in hell. Wounded, or worse, lost financially, mental faculties gone.

I work in a world of BA and MBA's and I came from a world of GED's, AA's earned in night school and ranks and medals that are foreign things to non military folks. Sometimes I feel the average person doesn't get it? It was a good event the foundation put on and I think people came away with a better understanding of the challenges face by returning vet's today.

I could and almost did write an entire article on this, but then thought better of it for various reasons. I'll leave it as "I understand what you're saying, and think you're generally correct". Events like this are a good idea.
I like the perspective here. It seems appropriate somehow in a "one way passage of life" way, but to explain that would take another article.
