It's just five more yards

SPS Saturday

When I plan out things to do involving physical labor at my home, specifically the yard I am always amped up that it's easy, I can get this done in a few hours. Piece of cake. No sweat… You know when you see Rocky movies and the theme is playing and you want to go run 8 miles and punch someone in the face kind of spirit and determination. You know…. We all feel it. Yeah you can do anything sitting there on hold with the landscaping place ordering yards and yards of stuff that your going to knock out in a mere two hours. Give me more!

I had my mulch delivered early this morning and as it kept flowing out of the back of the dump trucks bed and the pile was getting bigger and bigger I no longer felt like Rocky but rather an old man starting to sweat in the early part of a really humid day. I don't remember that last pile of 5 yards of mulch being quite so large?

Fast forward four hours and it's all done. The only thing left were 9 empty water bottles and a crushed Bud Light can I chugged as my reward in the hot summer afternoon standing where chest high mulch had been hours before.

That is a lot of mulch. I wonder what the benefits are of using mulch. My husband and I would like to start a garden. I wonder if we should get mulch for it.

Everyone forgets that as with Newton's laws, there are in fact three of Murphy's. The first of those being "Everything takes longer than expected."
The angle on this shot hits the right tone; man vs mulch.
