Globular star cluster 47 Tucanae is a jewel of the southern sky. It is one of the most massive globular clusters in the Galaxy, containing hundreds of thousands of stars that are up to 13 billion years old. 47 Tucanae contains hundreds of X-ray sources from neutron stars and pulsars, and possibly a central black hole.
