A perfect example of how panoramas challenge our normal perspective. Although this looks like a fairly flat top of a knob, it was in fact taken on the side of a sloping hill. The low area to the left of center was straight downhill from the camera; the sides of the "gully" are actually 90 degrees on either side of downhill, and the high area is straight uphill. The panoramic perpsective transforms this into an undulating landscape, frankly more interesting than the original scene!
