This gull of northeastern Asia, and rare along the Pacific coast, is presumed to be the same individual that was identified on the west side of the San Francisco Bay in Sausalito by Dan Singer, Michael Park, and Steve Tucker on 23 January. On 12 February, it was seen by Todd Easterla, Michael Park, and Dan Singer at Ferry Point/Miller-Knox Park in Richmond. In both instances, it was joined by thousands of other gulls feasting on a transient surge of herring roe, making finding it a major challenge.
