This cuckoo, of unknown origin, was discovered along the Watsonville Slough in Watsonville, California by a Santa Cruz County birder. This is only the second documented occurrence of the species in the lower 48 states, so hundreds of birders and photographers immediately "flocked" to Watsonville to see it.
