David, I read the back and forth on this on Lost In Focus. You have such a naturally gifted way with dramatic light. Have you investigated the Pocket Wizard system and using on camera flash as strobes instead of dragging your studio lights with necessary generators to the field? They're pretty portable and down and dirty. A hugely resourceful site if you don't know it already is www.strobist.com. Good luck. You need to be a filmaker, dude.
