Sometimes called "Indian Paintbrush" though unrelated to the Paintbrushes that are common in the West.

Thank you, so very much for this treasure trove of NYS wildflower photos! My fiance surprised me while on vacation in Wells NY with a beautiful bunch of wildflowers that included these Indian Paintbrush flowers (aka Orange Hawkweed). He wasn't sure that was what they were called,but it turns out his childhood memories were right. Now I'm going to see if I can identify the rest of the bouquet and possibly recreate them in our yard. Thank you!

Saw this near the summit of Whiteface this summer. Also saw a few specimens at John Browns farm last summer. Also seen on side of road between blue mtn lake and long lake in the past
