I took this photo in Hammond Hill State Forest in Tompkins County, which is in the Finger Lakes region. The elevation was close to 2000'.A USDA map shows fireweed growing over much of NY. https://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=CHAME2 (zoom in to NY)
