"Hurdy gurdy" by skyredoubt

I think a (miniature) hurdy gurdy can count as Christmas paraphernalia, especuially if it plays "Jingle Bells"!

It's a pleasure leaving you a comment, but it's not easy to pick at your work. I'm sure you've thought this through, and tried other things. I just feel that any advice is good advice, because art is such a personal and perceptive thing. I'm always happy talk about it.
Regards.

Hi, Lipo.
Thank you, appreciate your comments, even though I disagree about the background. It is not about a cliche, but about whatever works best for a particular image. Sure, here you might think a lighter b/g would work better, but I think it won't fit with the overall mood (in fact, I tried different b/g and settled on this one.) Thanks for letting me know, anyhow!
Cheers,
Peter

Peter. This is great, and all your elements show really well. The idea is very original, and the good composition adds to that. The only thing which is starting to distract me a little is the almost cliched 'black' background which has been used by you and a couple of other winners in the past few challenges. As great as I think this is, I'd only suggest to try a 'new' type of background. In this case, I'm not sure if black is the best choice.
regards.

This shot brings back the memories that I have as a child setting there watching one of these play and trying to figure out how those knobs make music. Great job on how your captured the shot. I too like the purple effect.

Hi, sinnettc. I used a bicycle LED light.

I love the lighting on this. How did you get the purple highlights?
