Thanks John and Mark for the feedback. I've replaced the original image with one from a slightly different angle, and made the border less intrusive. Mark, I'm going to get a polarizing filter for this lens. Didn't think I'd need it for macro work, but obviously there's a benefit.

Dennis, Another fine entry. You've done well capturing the glass - a difficult task in most cases. The reflections are relatively benign, but I wonder if a polarizer would have helped reduce the reflection of the (spot lamp?) on the right side. The yellow background is a nice complement but seems too plain given how much area it occupies. Perhaps adding a faint texture (paper fibers?, a touch of caligraphy, or a few small ink blots would help. I'm afraid I don't care for the blue frame. While it coordinates with the colors in the pen, being so bright and saturated makes it very distracting to the eye. Thinning the frame to just a few pixels wide or desaturating it might help. The copper colored handle in the upper right adds a nice contrast and interest to the scene. I want to see more of it, but you've probable done it right including only enough to accent and add some intrigue. Overall, a fine photo of an interesting object.

Dennis, very stylish and a good fit for the theme.
