Cam, I reckon you're pretty much at about the potential of this one. Pleasing colours and textures, but I still think that taking the shot in better lighting could still get even more out of it. I resized your entry down to the 1000px max. Don't worry; you weren't over by nearly as much as some and I've adjusted them all. Thanks for this one. I've enjoyed studying it. John
Tlaloc -- your haiku is technically correct (5-7-5) but now I have done some research rather than relying on memory, I note that we have both missed seasonal references. The meat of the paua is delicious in a sherry-based chowder or in fritters. Thanks for you comments which are noted. I included the area at the lower right to give a secondary physical as well as a colour texture. Its also a life/death reference as that particular shell has aged in the open. -- cheers from brettania
Translucent seas swirl
Round three dark moons of Paua
Seaweed into worlds.
A 5-7-5 haiku back at you, Brettania. LOL
Great shot. I wonder what would be the effect if the only two textures were the swirling seas and the black eyes. To my eye, the third texture (lower right) detracts from the overall effect. BTW, is paua good eating?

Cam, much better processing this time. Good subject with interesting colours and texture. I reckon that with some different lighting this one could really shine even more. John
