A technically superb shot. The lighting casts shadows that illuminate the radiating textures. I like that there's no hint of scale - this could be one meter wide, or as you've indicated, three inches. Good eye to spot this shot.

The object is 3 inches across and this is about half of it. It looks like a thin flying saucer! Lighting was white light LED. Greatly underexposed to maintain colour in the specular highlights.

xrdbear, very cool! This is the kind of thing I had in mind with the theme of textures. Interesting subject with great textures and radial pattern where the texture dominantes the image and leaves no doubt about nailing the theme. Well composed and the lighting is perfect to show off the subject. I'm not familiar enough with the subject to know how magnified it is, but I assume this is in the normal macro realm. Very strong entry. Well done!
