This ant hill is one of many encountered in Florida. This one is about 3 feet across and a foot or so high and that is unusually big IMHO.

It's amazing to me that they can build such large hills, a few grains at a time too I suppose! This shows the strong vertical climb well with the limited DOF to set it apart from the background.
