One-Room Schoolhouse

The Dixie Schoolhouse is the oldest one-room schoolhouse in Marin County
and has been in continuous use since its construction in 1864.
It is still used for educational, social and community functions, as well as for other special events.
Definitely a "blast from the past" and a well-preserved memory for our community to enjoy.

Darling old building. I like the composition with a leading line. However IMO, the brick walkway in the foreground somewhat overwhelms the building in the distance. I'm guessing maybe that is because the walk is centered in the foreground (and thus is very prominent). To my eye, the walkway seems to have equal weigh in composition to the actual school. For me, this composition pulls the eye to start of the brick walk way as much as it does the school building at the end of the walk. The building is very pretty; as was the day. Charming scene.

This was beautifully shot, Laura. I love that you included enough of the walkway to lead the eye to the gate and then the building. the colors really pop, too. Excellent work!
