Coit Tower in San Francisco is a very recognizable structure sitting by itself on Telegraph Hill in the City.
Built in 1933, with money from a bequest from Lillie Hitchcock Coit, the art deco style tower
seems to resemble a fire hose nozzle, but this is just coincidental.
Yes, it was early evening/late afternoon, and this was shot out the side window of the car while we were driving along the Piers at the Embarcadero. I was in and out of shade, and then with the motion of the car I had upped the iso so as to not get blurry shots with drastically changing light. It was my only chance to get a shot of Coit Tower this month. And no, I wasn't driving. :)
