Flying Gull
by Laura Milholland

Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds, San Rafael, CA

I had to work at catching a gull while flying between me and the sun (somewhat)
so that he would be back lit.
I like the way his head has rim lighting and the way the sun comes through his wing feathers.

I like the way you captured this. The use of negative space is very good, the gull is sharp and the backlighting through his wing is well done.

Your "working hard" to capture this image helped to enforce the idea behind the Assignment. This turned out really well. I also like how you also captured the Rim Lighting; plus the backlighting came through the translucent feathers. Well done example of backlighting.

Cool shot! I like seagulls and we have plenty of them. Catching this one backlit is pretty cool...
