This Bud popped up overnight yesterday and is today a pretty flower that will last 2 or 3 days.

What makes the story unusual is that the cactus uprooted itself (too top heavy) and completely fell out of the pot last Winter. It had a very shallow root system that seemed to be next to non existent. Not wanting to trash a house plant (that I've grown for almost 30 years), I propped cactus up on top of the dirt and just hoped for the best. There wasn't even enough of a root system to bury in the dirt.

Well, the cactus not only survived, but it's now flowering again!
