23-MAR-2016 Laura Milholland

An Attentive Dancer
by Laura Milholland

Novato, CA

A very difficult shot - I was in another room, shooting through a small window and between partly opened miniblinds.
Then I had to actually shoot the reflection in the wall-to-wall mirror, instead of the live ballerina.
I still like it and felt that the graininess (noise) gave it a bit of an old-fashioned and painterly feel.
Yes, my granddaughter - in the middle of her ballet / tap dance lesson. . . .

This is an amazing shot. You captured her so beautifully, with her hair done up, that intense expression on her face and the sparkles on her tutu. I like that you have her alone, like she was contemplating going on stage to dance the lead in the Nutcracker.

Cute again. I can see a hint of the mind blinds, but this does work in B&W. Your composition is very nice.

I think this is superb! The pensive look on her face, the sparkles on the tutu and her
little updo. Very, very precious. VVV

Nice shot and quite an expression. Black and white does well here.
