Prickly Pear Fruit
by Rosemary Woods

Prickly pear cactus bloom yellow, red or purple flowers from May-June. After the blooms are gone the buds turn into fruit which is known as "tuna." Both the pads and fruit hold a lot of water and nutrition for wild animals and humans. For human consumption the pads are often eaten as a vegatable. The pear or "tuna" is made into jelly, especially amongst the American Indian tribes.

That is sharp, Rosemary. Good DOF and exposure. Nice written description about the subject, too.

Nice DOF and sharpness across the image, Rosemary. And we can certainly well see how it got its name! ;)
