A Quick Drink
by Rosemary Woods

As I was headed inside the house I heard this little guy/gal arrive for a quick drink. No time to change camera settings so I chanced taking the shot. Love his/her little red feathers sticking out. Thought it might make for a negative space image. Not sure if this is male or female. Looks like a juvenile (Anna's Hummingbird) to me but I am not certain. Any ideas?

Laura, I have been seeing the Black-chinned hummers in our yard. I can't see to get a good photo of one. This little guy might be one.

Nicely caught. Your composition is nice, the bokeh is wonderful and I like the colors.

Nicely caught, Rosemary. I like the bokeh in the colorful negative space too. It provides a nice setting. I agree it could be an immature Anna's, or it could also be an immature Black-chinned which are supposed to be in your area in Spring and Summer. ;)

Great composition and excellent use of the negative space.
