Unknown bird - Gallinule maybe
by Breezanemom

Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive

I took this shot at the newly opened Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive but can't ID it.
I think it might be an immature Gallinule, but I'm not sure.
Either that or an immature Grebe.
No matter, I like the fact that he (she?) was all alone in the water.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Love how you captured the bird in the blue part of the water as he/she swims towards the debris. Bird stands out great and yet has lots of wonderful negative space to draw your eye back into the bird. Nice!!

Not a Grebe. We don't have Gallinule here; so I couldn't ID one of those even if it were. Yes, a solitary bird on a pond makes for a good example of Negative Space.

Quite a little cutie, Lisa. I cannot tell the ID either.
