Not "golden" in color, but spanning the gateway to the San Francisco Bay.
This gateway was named the Golden Gate in 1846 - and when the bridge was built (1933-37) it took on the name of the geographical location.
Actually shot out the car window from Hwy 101 as my husband was driving us toward the bridge crossing to return home.
