This image is the result of a process called focus stacking. It is both an advanced editing and photography technique. This photo is the result of 14 stacks images. I shot 14 photos each with a different focus point (back to front). The photos were then loaded into Photoshop CS5 (other photo editors may have the ability to load photos into layers and perform the stacking). The images were aligned (using the auto align feature in Photoshop) and then auto blended (Using the auto blend feature).
The result is that the entire subject appears to be in sharp focus. This is especially helpful in shooting macro images where the depth of field can be very shallow.
