Seemed like a nice place, more snow and ice than I expected. |
Since I was alone, I was being very careful not to go where I thought I might get into trouble. |
Then the Jeep falls thru the ice on the passenger side. |
The tires in the hole had no traction, even with the axles locked. |
The tires on the drivers side were both sitting on ice, so no traction there either. :( |
Not much of a chance to get out, I needed help. Note drivers side tires barely making contact with the ice too. |
So, help came in the way of a rather large tractor. |
The tractor was spinning his wheels in this pic, no traction on the ice. |
A little cussing and a lot of wheelspin from both of us finally got it out. |
The ice chunks are 6-8 inches thick, but the hole doesn't look like much here... |
...until you get a little perspective. Lesson learned, don't go alone. |
So I quickly left Haspin Acres and caught up with the group as they went thru ski instructions. |
The instructor told Beverly that crossing her skis for good luck will help her ski better. |
Here's Kim... um... skiing. |
If we're supposed to be pretending like we're skiing, why aren't Beverly's poles 30 yards uphill? |
Me, Beverly, and John... it was a long day and we were all getting tired. |
The lights on the slopes were pretty awesome. |
A snowy look down the intermediate slope. Next time... the black diamond slope!!! |
Back at the lodge, the resort was setting up a 40 foot ramp for televised competition. |
This was the last pic of the day, because the thought of a steak dinner sounded better than watching ski jumping. |
