The original pedestal the contractors wanted
to use was a 4x4 inch banister post for a stair
railing. Waaay too skinny for such a large table
in my opinion (4ft diameter). We had them build this
instead. It's about 11.5 x 11.5 inches, and matches
the construction of the cabinets. We need to stain it
yet, but since it's under the table, we don't notice
it much anyway. Very sturdy table tho, no movement at all.
