I had NOT been able to achieve this before the firmware updates (now v5.0 at Jan 2017), ..yet I confess I also updated the 14mm's ware too ...AND used EX 2 converter(difficult for me to isolate exactly where in the system this amelioration of the X-Trans files has taken place).
Er, and EX2 is FREE.

(Tell you the truth, I was so lazy at updating my firmware for 15 months, I didn't expect Fuji to still be supporting my camera.
Yet, it feels like the whole "system", from capture to outputted image, has been thought through.
Probably that "horse and rider in synch" thingy that embodies successful Japanese technology?)
