This walking/biking trail is located in Waupaca County near the town of Scandinavia, WI. I learned of a nesting sandhill crane in a ravine along the trail. What was unusual was it was noticed in the middle of July. Most cranes eggs hatch much earlier around here. These pictures are over a course of 2 weeks, 4 different trips. If one of these eggs did hatch it would have been a record.
She was very agitated with us and seemed to want to challenge us. Her mate flew in from behind us but we didn't see him after that. She stood up and we were able to see 2 eggs. At this point she was quite upset with us, so after a few quick shots we left.

Trip 3 ~ This time I found her very still, very quiet. Like the first time it seemed like she was dead, and then she picked her head up and blinked her eye.

Trip 4, the last trip ~ This is what I found, one lone egg. It was sort of sad, because I didn't know if the other egg hatched or not, or what had become of her. She was no where in the area.
Hey Tammie-love your nature pics-I also love all the quiet nature around us and love to immerse myself in it(although I have no talent for taking pictures like you!:-)Please keep sending them-it reminds me to stop and enjoy all of the simple things in life and what is REALLY important! Lori
