Wren Hatchlings

A story of baby Carolina Wrens from hatching to fledging. The nest was built in a potted Aloe plant on my front porch with the opening aimed at a small window beside my front door. Most images were shot through that window making side to side movement available less than 6 inches. All were taken with a Canon 30D and 70-200 f/4L (and Kenko extension tubes). I learned a lot both about birds and about photography during these 13 days. Lighting became easier after I built a rig to hold the flash where I wanted it but that did not come until they were half grown. I feel most fortunate to have seen this once and do not expect to be allowed a second chance.
