Arizona's Christmas Tree near Sunset Point on I-17, AZ

This Juniper tree resides in the median along I-17 just north of Sunset Point between Black Canyon City and Cordes Junction. Each year, for the past several decades, it has been decorated for Christmas by unknown individuals. No one has ever claimed to have seen the tree being decorated and the people who decorate it have never come forward. In 2011, the tree was threatened by fire but the fire stopped just short and only singed some of the lower branches. It has become an icon for all of those who travel between Phoenix and Flagstaff during the Christmas season.

Unfortunately this tree succumbed during a fire in 2020.

I have seen this tree many times over the years when traveling I-17 from Phoenix. Thanks for posting.
