Blue Dacnis - female

Scientific name: Dacnis cayana
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Thraupidae

Also called: Turquoise Honeycreeper

The Blue Dacnis is found in forests and other woodlands, including gardens and parks. It has a relatively short bill compared to other honeycreepers. These are social birds which eat mainly insects gleaned from foliage, flowers or bromeliads. Fruit is often taken and usually swallowed whole, but nectar is rarely consumed.
