the Great Hall, which was an addition to the post-1170 ring of halls. Not quite as uplifting in character as the light-drenched loggia, the spacious (27 by 7,5 m) hall behind it has a certain austerity. The two doors leading from the loggia end in pointed arches. Above are three windows. The hall's ceiling is divided by elegant cradle vaulting into three segments. The ribs come down to capitals embedded in the walls bearing various patterns of leaves, animals and caryatids, all badly damaged.
