One of many fine houses in the main street where I had my hotel, the Al Khandak street. I have no further information, just found them very nice looking, though some were in urgent need of restoration. On the other hand, restoration sometimes ruins the mellow looks of a house for tens of years, so maybe this is just right.
From this point I made a stroll through the area to the north, heading west and getting into the Jdeide Quarter, "one of the most charming areas of the city". A year earlier I mainly visited churches (well, it was Eastern after all), this time I just enjoyed the old houses, narrow streets and all that. The gps did not always work, but all these pictures were taken within a few hundred meters square.
