This is the Imaret of Sultan Suleiman, by the famous Sinan (visit my Turkey site to see lots of his works) or see the Tekkiye elsewhere in my Syria/Damascus galleries. This Imaret was built to provide visitors to the tomb of al-Arabi (which we'll visit next) - lying opposite - with food. It dates from 1552, I would gladly have visited it, but found it closed.
